Waiting on Wednesday: The Summer I Became A Nerd by Leah Rae Miller

"Waiting On Wednesday" is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that book bloggers are eagerly anticipating.

This week's can't-wait-to-read is one that is very relevant to my current state of mind:

The Summer I Became a Nerd
Author: Leah Rae Miller
Publisher: Entangled Teen
Expected publication date: May 7, 2013

From Goodreads
On the outside, seventeen-year-old Madelyne Summers looks like your typical blond cheerleader—perky, popular, and dating the star quarterback. But inside, Maddie spends more time agonizing over what will happen in the next issue of her favorite comic book than planning pep rallies with her squad. That she’s a nerd hiding in a popular girl's body isn’t just unknown, it's anti-known. And she needs to keep it that way.

Summer is the only time Maddie lets her real self out to play, but when she slips up and the adorkable guy behind the local comic shop’s counter uncovers her secret, she’s busted. Before she can shake a pom-pom, Maddie’s whisked into Logan’s world of comic conventions, live-action role-playing, and first-person-shooter video games. And she loves it. But the more she denies who she really is, the deeper her lies become…and the more she risks losing Logan forever.

I'm feeling extra nerdy these days since I've been obsessed with the Lizzie Bennet Diaries (what's going to happen with the Lydia website?!) and fandom lately, so I thought this would be the perfect WoW pick for this week.

I honestly wish this book had come out when I was in high school because it would have given me so much comfort and belief that my nerdiness was just my own brand of cool...do you guys feel like that?

Also, I totally want the shoes that the cover girl is wearing!

What's your can't-wait-to-read for this week? Do you ever feel like you're a little too nerdy? What do you do to compensate? =)

  13. Great choice! I'm adding this to my wishlist! This book is like me! If you look at me, you wouldn't be able to tell I devour books like crazy; you would just see a preppy girl. But like it seems Madelyne is in the book, I'm a nerd!

  21. Umm, I had never heard of this book, but now I really want to read it. I'm a huge, out of the closet nerd, no hiding. I'll shout it to the world. Totally own it - that's my philosophy.

The book I CANNOT wait for is Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo, A Darkness Strange and Lovely by Susan Dennard, and most of all Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas. THEY ARE ALL SUMMER BOOKS *faints*.
